Créé en 1811 et dédié à l’Archiduc Rodolphe, le Concerto “Empereur” est à la fois le seul de la série que Beethoven ne joua jamais et le sommet de sa production concertante : la richesse d’écriture et l’exigence de sa partie soliste sont alors inédits.\nGrandeur et vaillance parcourent aussi Une vie de héros, qui fit rapidement grand effet : “Je vois des gens frémir, presque se lever à certains passages” constatait Romain Rolland.\n
